Dr Fleming graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981 after receiving a masters of science degree from the same institution.  In 1988 she attended the IVAS (International Veterinary Acupuncture Society) certification course and in 1997 attended the Classical Acupuncture Institute to become licensed to treat people.

In 1992 she became certified in Veterinary Homeopathy  by Dr Richard Pitcairn, and Veterinary Chiropractic by the American Veterinary

 Chiropractic Association. She also was certified by world renowned Pascal Evrard in Equine osteopathy and hosted the first and only equine osteopathy course in the United States. 

For over 20 years Dr fleming has also recieved an extensive education in homeopathy for people including training under Jeremy Sherr and the New England School of Homeopathy with Dr Paul Herscu.

Chief instructor and dean of the Institute of Veterinary Alternative Therapy, Dr fleming has combined her years of international teaching for several acupuncture organizations to instruct students in equine alternative medicine including acupuncture, osteopathy, chinese herbs and homeopathy. 

Dr Fleming resides on her clinic property, a 100 acre horse farm, with her husband, Larry, her 3 girls, Katlin, Qi, and Sky and her horses, dogs, and cats - and two pot bellied pigs!
